A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. JADE DEDEAUX UPON BEING SELECTED AS QUEEN ILLINOIS 2013 DURING THE ORIGINAL ILLINOIS' CLUB INC.'S 112TH ANNUAL BALL AND DEBUTANTE COTILLION.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Jade Dedeaux of Diamondhead, Mississippi, is being honored for her selection as Queen Illinois 2013 of the Original Illinois Club, Inc.'s, 112th Annual Ball and Debutante Cotillion; and

     WHEREAS, reared with the importance of receiving an education as well as giving to others, Jade is the lovely daughter of Lynn and Tracy Dedeaux; and

     WHEREAS, Jade, a 2012 honors graduate of Pass Christian High School who made an ACT composite score of 30 in 2010 and received over $750,000 in scholarship offers, is continuing her education at Xavier University of Louisiana where she was awarded the prestigious Xavier Board of Trustees Scholarship and is double majoring in engineering and physics, which shows the resolve and wonderful ambition of this young lady; and

     WHEREAS, a natural and vibrant leader, Jade has held several leadership positions, some of which include the following:  Governor's Office of Highway Safety Student Advisory Board; President of St. Rose Catholic Youth Organization; Senate Minority Whip of the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.; leadership graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi Leadership Studies; delegate for the Hibari Ghani Youth Leadership Program; city delegate for Pass Christian Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership; participant of the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies at the University of Mississippi and served as a legislative page; and

     WHEREAS, Jade's leadership abilities carry over to her community involvement, where she accumulated an impressive total of 832 service hours in high school by volunteering with the Student Advisory Board, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center & Children's Museum, American Heart Association, Harrison County Food Drive and the Hancock County Food Pantry; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to all of her community service, Jade notably spearheaded fundraising efforts for an international Habitat for Humanity build in Haiti in which she helped to raise more than $5,000 in a single year, which demonstrates her drive to help those who are in need both far and near; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to acknowledge outstanding young Mississippians such as Jade Dedeaux whose selfless service to her community as well as her dynamic academic achievements not only bring honor to her community but to this great state as a whole:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby congratulate Ms. Jade Dedeaux upon being selected as Queen Illinois 2013, as well as for her community service and academic achievements, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Dedeaux and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
