A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE FOREST HIGH SCHOOL BEARCATS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH JUDD BOSWELL FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2010 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MHSAA CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Jackson's Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Forest High School Bearcats Football Team won the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A Championship trophy by defeating Aberdeen in a hard-fought victory by a score of 10-8 on the strength of an explosive offense and a ferocious defense; and

     WHEREAS, for Forest, the win marked the Bearcats' fourth state title in six tries, having won the championship in 1992, 1993 and 1999, before winning the 2010 title; and

     WHEREAS, the Bearcats have been virtually unstoppable over the past three seasons, finishing the 2010 season undefeated for the first time since 1970 with an outstanding record of 15-0 and achieving an undefeated record at home over the last three seasons; and

     WHEREAS, the defense of the Bearcats allowed its opponents to score a mere 50 points and Forest never trailed any opponent during the 15 games of the 2010 season, the fewest allowed by the venerable "Red Brick Wall" defense in the last 30 years; and

     WHEREAS, the Bearcats' 2010 football roster is as follows:  Cory Tucker, Jonothan Warnsley, Chris Mazique, Treshawn Mitchell, Cameron Stowers, Josh Pinkston, Reggie Odom, Jaylon Lofton, Juan Rodriguez, Luke Reynolds, Nathan Reynolds, Jodeci Patrick, Chad Kincaid, Matthew Evans, Lazavius Lyles, Ky Reynolds, Tobias Lofton, Telandus Craft, Terrance Shepard, Mike Williams, Chris Williams, Cory Qualls, Shane Lum, Eric Moya, Marquez Johnson, Robert Strong, Randell Boyd, Oscar Merrill, Justin Robinson, Quillan Jones, Vincent Slaughter, Lonnie Gray, Philton Noblin, Brady Power, Dbias Barber, Michael Townsend, Sherman Boyd, Ephraim Ringo, Bryce Power, Chance Jolly, Roderick Braggs, Alfonso Castro, Antonio Patrick, LaQuincy Nicks, Richard Satcher, Richard Chisolm, J'Darius Bobbit, Leshawn Reed, Clayton Noblin, Chandler Powell, Roshode Mckee, Branden Rodriguez, Eduaedo Santillan, Justin Foreman and Davion Beamon; and

     WHEREAS, the following players were rewarded for their outstanding play:  Randell Boyd was named Region 6-3A Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year and Class 3A First Team All-State; Juan Rodriguez was named Special Teams Player of the Year; Treshawn Mitchell, Nathan Reynolds, Matthew Evans, Marquez Johnson and Quillian Jones were selected Class 3A First Team All-State; and Justin Robinson, Terrance Shepard, Josh Pinkston, Jonothan Warnsley, Sherman Boyd, Michael Townsend, Lonnie Gray, Jodeci Patrick, Leshawn Reed and Ephraim Ringo were named First Team All-Region 6-3A; and

     WHEREAS, Head Coach Judd Boswell was ably assisted by Assistant Coaches, Hamer Morgan, Lee Martin, Anthony Stanford, Pete Stokes, Tommy Davis, Mike Holifield, Todd Vowell and Tyler Walters; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Boswell has brought additional honor to himself and to Forest High School by being named as the Class 3A Mississippi Coaches Association Coach of the Year, and Coach Boswell and his assistants were named as the Class 3A Coaching Staff of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, Forest and Scott Counties have been known for producing some of the best athletes in the nation, and the efforts put toward athletics in Forest are worthy of commendation; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such a superb group of student athletes and their coaches, all of whom have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Forest High School Bearcats Football Team and Head Coach Judd Boswell for their outstanding 2010 season and for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Forest High School, Head Coach Judd Boswell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
