House Concurrent Resolution 55

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE GREENE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL WILDCATS CHEERLEADING TEAM AND COACH MISTI ROUNSAVILLE FOR WINNING THE 2013 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION SMALL/NON-TUMBLING DIVISION II STATE CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Greene County High School Wildcats Cheerleading Team competed against 12 other squads in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State Cheerleading Championship, and after their superb performance, they captured the Small/Non-Tumbling Division II State Cheerleading Championship; and

     WHEREAS, this year the Greene County High School Cheerleaders solidified their rise to championship status by reaching the state championship competition and laying claim to its first MHSAA state championship title, qualifying for the UCA 2014 National High School Cheerleading Championship and reviving a bid to the NCA High School Nationals; and

     WHEREAS, under the superb leadership of sponsor/coach Misti Rounsaville, choreographer Jillian Brady, and guest coaches Derrick Morgan and Dailee Eubanks, who refined their skills in execution, acrobatics and dance, the team did an exceptional job of covering each other's faults, unifying all of their strengths to make a good squad, and they did an outstanding job working toward the accomplishment of this highly pursued goal; and

     WHEREAS, during this special season, the Greene County cheerleaders worked extremely hard, practicing to succeed, learning and perfecting football and basketball cheers for the games; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Greene County High School cheerleading squad are:  Cassidy Graham, Jami Deese, Kenzie Brewer, Atlanta Green, Lexus Watson, Anne Marie Graham, Taylor Meadows, Madison Lott, Leoma Stallworth, Shanna Pipkins, Shelby Brondum, Madi Nicholson, Holly Updegraff, Hailey Elmore, Kassidee Milstead, Tricia Brazell, Kristen Templeton, Charlcie Hicks and Shelbi Waters; and

     WHEREAS, the Wildcats Cheerleaders have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of excellence and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi at all levels of competition; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding student athletes such as the Greene County High School Cheerleading Team:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Greene County High School Wildcats Cheerleading Team and Coach Misti Rounsaville for winning the 2013 MHSAA Small/Non-Tumbling Division II State Cheerleading Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Greene County High School, Coach Misti Rounsaville and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
