A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE RANGERS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH BENJY PARKER ON THEIR SUCCESSFUL 2025 SEASON AND VICTORY IN THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES CONFERENCE (MACCC) CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Football Team, a powerhouse program under the phenomenal leadership of Head Coach Benjy Parker, repeated history yet again in 2025 with its continued demonstration of exceptional skill, teamwork and determination throughout their incredible season, bestowing a heightened level of distinction the college, its student-athletes and the communities it serves across North Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the Rangers finished the season with an impressive 10-2 overall record, securing their 13th Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) championship title and the team's second consecutive championship and fourth state title in the past six seasons; and

WHEREAS, Northwest finished the season ranked among the top teams in the final National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Football Poll, marking the tenth time in the last 11 seasons that the Rangers have finished with a national ranking; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Benjy Parker, the Rangers earned a share of the MACCC North Division title, advanced through region 23 post-season play, and secured a berth in the NJCAA Division I National Semifinals, before earning a hard fought bid to the NJCAA Division I Football Playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons, showcasing the team's continued excellence on a national level; and

WHEREAS, Coach Parker was named Region 23 Coach of the Year, reflecting his leadership, integrity and sustained excellence, further solidifying his place as one of the most successful coaches in Northwest history while guiding the Rangers football program both on and off the field; and

WHEREAS, the Rangers distinguished themselves as one of the premier defensive teams in the nation, leading the NJCAA in rushing defense, recording multiple shutouts during the season, and consistently demonstrating discipline, toughness and teamwork; and

WHEREAS, numerous members of the Rangers football program earned conference, regional and national honors throughout the season, further highlighting the program's commitment to athletic excellence and student achievement; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Rangers football team reflects the strong support of Northwest Mississippi Community College's administration, faculty, staff, athletic trainers, academic advisors and support personnel, as well as the encouragement of alumni, families and fans across the college's eleven-county service district; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers football team exemplify the mission of Mississippi's community colleges by promoting academic success, leadership development, sportsmanship and pride in public higher education; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and honor the achievements of student-athletes such as the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Football Team, who have brought honor to their college, community and the entire State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Football Team and Head Coach Benjy Parker for their outstanding performance during the 2025 season, including their MACCC Championship victory, and extend sincere wishes to the team members and coaches for continued success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Benjy Parker on behalf of the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Football Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
