A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SOUTH PANOLA HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2012 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the South Panola High School Tigers Football Team finished the 2012 season with an outstanding record of 13 wins and two losses, culminating with winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship, newly named the Mississippi Gridiron Classic; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers performed their best in the state playoffs in the 2012 season, defeating Jim Hill High School, Clinton High School and Madison Central High School before winning their remarkable 10th State Championship, all won in the last 19 seasons; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers faced the Brandon High School Bulldogs Football Team in the Mississippi Gridiron Classic on November 30, 2012, defeating the Bulldogs for the title with a hard-fought final score of 31-23; and
WHEREAS, the South Panola Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Lance Pogue and Assistant Coaches Trey Dickerson, Houston Ealy, Thomas Pipkin, Matt Mock, Jamie Easley, Arnie Oakes, Gary Sims, Trey Higdon, Milton Talbert, Danny Robertson, Luke Kiihnl, Al Dodson and Artee Smith, who have broadened the Tigers' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers roster is comprised of the following players: Ladarius Strong, Quandez Lee, Brady Smith, C.J. Leland, Javon Norris, Tavian Bibbs, Dashawn Lindsay, Darrell Henderson, Bailey Lawrence, Tevis Flowers, Matthew Davis, Antonio Conner, DeAndrea Harris, Hays Hudson, Rip Kirk, Stephen Sanford, Javarius Taylor, Houston Boothe, Walter Henry, Kamdon Edwards, Ryan Lee, Undra Draper, Clifton Willingham, Justin Wilbourn, Tavares Lee, Gabriel Lloyd, Roosevelt Jones, Jemarcus Brooks, Je'Tavious Turner, Je'Michael Handy, TrenDarrian Phillips, Anfernee Benson, Keven Black, Dewayne Brassell, Jadarius McKinney, Quardarius McMurry, Ephraim Kitchens, Ryan Darby, Reginald Morris, John Tyler Johnson, LaKeddrick Flowers, Tyler Beard, Austin Redwine, Decorvus Pounders, Jeremy Webb, Logan Roberson, Todd Jones, Jaylen Lee, Clayton Sibley, Blake Coker, Terry Boyd, Hunter Williams, Austin Cowsert, Dustin McCleod, Demetrius Gleaton, Damien Rayford, Dqmarcus Shaw, Stacy McMurry, Joe Watson, Terrance Malone, Justin Barksdale, Anthony Sims, Deon Mix, Billy Lightning, Brycen Robinson, Justin Armstead, Tyler Babb, Garner Barbee, Cordarrius Barnes, Antavion Reed, L.J. Carr, Bob Smith, Anthony Harris, Darrel Davis, Jarien Barksdale, Terrance Lesure, Rodrickus Hunt, Keitavious Valentine, Desmond Lester and Trey Tedford; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to South Panola High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the South Panola High School Football Team and their coaches for their outstanding 2012 season and for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship, and extend best wishes for success in all of their future academic and athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the South Panola High School Tigers Football Team Head Coach Lance Pogue, Principal Tim Fowler and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
