House Bill 906

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE SURVIVING LAWFUL SPOUSE OR OTHER BENEFICIARY OF A DECEASED MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A COPY OF HIS OR HER BIRTH CERTIFICATE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE SURVIVOR RETIREMENT BENEFITS FROM THE SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The surviving lawful spouse or other beneficiary of a deceased member of the Public Employees' Retirement System shall not be required to provide a copy of his or her birth certificate in order to receive survivor retirement benefits from the system.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
