House Bill 619

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT PERSONS OR COMPANIES FROM DELAYING THE PAYMENT OF MEDICAL BILLS OF AN INSURED FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING SUBROGATION RIGHTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  No person or company shall delay the payment of medical bills of an insured for the purpose of establishing subrogation rights.  Any person or company violating the provisions of this section shall be subject to the penalty provisions as provided in Section 83-5-85.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2016.
