House Bill 1322

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS MAY BE CERTIFIED BY THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE IN ORDER TO CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON WITHOUT A PERMIT UNDER FEDERAL LAW; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  This section may be referred to as "HR218 Qualification Law."

     (2)  Any retired law enforcement officer who resides in this state and for whom the law enforcement agency from which the officer retired does not participate in the necessary certification for the retired officer to be certified according to the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 found at Chapter 44, Title 18, Section 926B USCS, or who does not reside in convenient proximity to the law enforcement agency from which the officer retired, may obtain the necessary certification from the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
