Summary

An Act To Amend Section 29-3-99, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That The Office Of Secretary Of State Shall Manage And Approve The Leasing Of Sixteenth Section School Land Subsurface Minerals, To Provide Minimum Royalty Provisions For Such Mineral Leases, And To Clarify Compensation For Any Damage To The Lease As A Result Of Mining, Developing Or Easements; To Codify Section 37-17-15, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That The Office Of Secretary Of State Shall Manage The Leasing Of Sixteenth Section School Land In School Districts Which Are Under The Control Of The State Department Of Education Due To Emergency Circumstances And To Authorize School Districts To Voluntarily Divest Sixteenth Section School Land Management; To Amend Section 37-7-301, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Authorize Local School Districts To Acquire Easements For Access To Sixteenth Section School Land Under Its Jurisdiction; And For Related Purposes.
