Summary

An Act To Amend Section 73-15-5, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Define The Terms "practice Of Midwifery" And "certified Nurse Midwife" For The Purposes Of The Nursing Practice Law; To Remove The Rollback To Former Law Provision Of This Section; To Create New Section 73-15-24, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That The Board Of Nursing Shall Regulate The Practice Of Midwifery; To Provide That The Practice Of Midwifery Shall Only Be Conducted By Certified Nurse Midwives; To Provide That Any Person Who Is Not A Certified Nurse Midwife Who Engages In The Practice Of Midwifery Shall Be Subject To Criminal Penalties And Injunctive Relief; To Amend Section 73-25-33, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Remove From The Definition Of The Practice Of Medicine The Exception For Females Engaged Solely In The Practice Of Midwifery; And For Related Purposes.
