Summary

An Act To Amend Section 71-3-59, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That The Workers' Compensation Commission Has The Exclusive Jurisdiction And Control Of Claims For Alleged Bad Faith Claims Handling; To Provide For The Transfer To The Commission Of Any Such Actions Pending Upon The Effective Date Of This Bill; To Authorize The Commission To Levy A Reasonable Penalty Payable As Increased Compensation To The Claimant Where The Commission Finds Conduct Constituting Bad Faith Claims Handling; And For Related Purposes.
