Summary

An Act To Amend Section 25-13-17, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Authorize Members Of The Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Retirement System Who Have A Four-year Bachelor's Degree Or Other Higher Level Degree From An Institution Of Higher Learning To Receive A Maximum Of Four Years Of Creditable Service In The System, Provided That The Member Obtained The Degree Before Becoming A Member Of The System, The Member Has At Least Five Years Of Service That Is Covered Under The Public Employees' Retirement System Or The Highway Safety Patrol Retirement System, And The Member Pays To The System The Actuarial Cost For Each Year Of Creditable Service That The Member Is Purchasing For Having Obtained The Degree; And For Related Purposes.
