Summary
An Act To Create The Juvenile Detention Reform Act Of 2012; To Amend Section 43-21-301, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require A Youth Court Judge Or His Designee To Issue An Order Before A Child May Be Taken Into Custody; To Amend Section 43-21-321, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require Each Juvenile Detention Center To Be Licensed On A Yearly Basis; To Provide That Such Licensing Requirements Be Made By The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Task Force; To Require Certain Standards For Juvenile Detention Centers Regarding Detaining Youth In Locked Cells; To Amend Section 43-21-605, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Authorize Youth Court Judges To Order Parents Or Guardians To Perform Community Service Along With Their Child Who Is Eighteen Years Of Age Or Younger As Long As Such Service Does Not Interfere With The Work Schedule Of The Parents Or Guardians; To Establish The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Task Force And Its Advisory Group; To Prescribe Their Membership And Duties; And For Related Purposes.
