Summary

An Act To Amend Section 37-3-2, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide A One-year Exemption From The Initial Date Of Hire To Persons Issued A Standard-license Nontraditional Teaching Route Through Participation With The Teach For America Program For Requirement To Achieve A Passing Score On The Assessment Of Scientifically Research-based Reading Instruction And Intervention And Data-based Decision-making Principles As Approved By The State Board Of Education Beginning On July 1, 2016; To Provide A Blanket Exemption To Such Requirement To Teach For America Participants Who Have Been Employed In A Public Elementary School For One Or More Years On Or Before July 1,2016; To Provide Teaching Alternatives To Those Participants Who Fail To Achieve A Passing Score On The Required Reading Assessment For Initial Licensure; And For Related Purposes.
