An Act To Establish A Pilot Program To Provide For The Random Drug Testing Of The Health Care Providers Licensed And Regulated By The State Board Of Dental Examiners, The Mississippi Board Of Nursing, The State Board Of Optometry, The State Board Of Pharmacy And The State Board Of Medical Licensure; To Provide That Those Health Care Providers Shall Be Subject To Taking A Drug Test On A Random Basis As A Condition Of Their Licensure; To Authorize The Respective Licensing Agencies To Require Health Care Providers Under Their Jurisdiction To Submit A Hair Sample Upon Request, Which The Licensing Agencies Shall Have Tested In A Laboratory To Determine The Presence Or Absence Of An Illegal Drug; To Provide That If A Health Care Provider Is Given A Drug Test And He Or She Tests Positive For Any Illegal Drug, The Licensing Agency Having Jurisdiction Over The Provider May Discipline The Health Care Provider Under The Agency's Licensee Disciplinary Statutes; To Provide That The Cost Of The Drug Tests Shall Be Paid By The Licensing Agencies To Amend Sections 73-9-61, 73-15-29, 73-19-23, 73-21-97, 73-25-29 And 73-27-13, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Preceding Provisions; And For Related Purposes.
