Summary

An Act To Provide That Each Person Who Is Eighteen Years Of Age Or Older, Who Is Receiving Public Assistance Benefits And Who Is Not Employed Shall Be Required To Participate In A Job Skills Training Program Conducted By The Mississippi Department Of Human Services As A Condition Of Receiving The Public Assistance Benefits; To Direct The Department Of Human Services, In Conjunction With The Mississippi Department Of Employment Security, To Establish And Administer A Job Skills Training Program For Recipients Of Public Assistance Benefits To Provide Instruction And Training In Employment-related Skills That Will Help The Recipient Of Public Assistance Benefits In Applying For, Obtaining And Maintaining Gainful Employment; To Provide That Any Person Who Does Not Participate In The Job Skills Training Program As Required By This Act Shall Be Ineligible To Receive The Public Assistance Benefits For A Certain Period Of Time; To Amend Sections 43-13-115 And 43-17-5, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Conform To The Preceding Provisions; And For Related Purposes.
