Summary

An Act To Amend Section 43-11-13, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That The Initial Physical And Mental Assessment Of A Person Who Is Admitted To A Nursing Facility Shall Be Performed In Person By A Licensed Physician Within Ten Days After The Person Is Admitted To The Nursing Facility; To Provide That This Assessment May Not Be Delegated To A Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant Or Any Other Health Care Provider; To Provide That In Conducting The Assessment, The Physician Shall Include The Patient's Lay Caregiver, Legal Representative And/or Other Person Designated By The Patient To Make Decisions Regarding The Patient's Care, In Order To Best Determine The Physical And Mental Condition Of The Patient And The Services That The Patient Needs From The Nursing Facility; And For Related Purposes.
