Summary
An Act To Amend Section 47-7-3.2, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Clarify That The Minimum Time That An Offender Must Serve Applies Only To An Individual Convicted On Or After July 1, 2014, And Shall Not Apply To An Individual Convicted Before That Date; To Amend Section 47-7-3, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Clarify That The Ineligibility For Parole For An Offender Who Commits A Crime Of Violence, Sex Crime Or Any Other Offense Does Not Apply If The Offender Is Convicted Before July 1, 2014; To Clarify That Regardless Of The Date Of Conviction For A Nonviolent Offender, Such Offender, If He Or She Has Served At Least 25% Of His Or Her Sentence, May Petition The Sentencing Judge For Parole; And For Related Purposes.
