Summary
An Act To Create The Tax Credit Scholarship Act; To Provide That Qualifying Students Shall Be Eligible To Use A Scholarship From Certain Scholarship Organizations To Cover Eligible Educational Expenses; To Provide For A Tax Credit Not To Exceed 50% Of The Taxpayer's Tax Liability For Contributions To Certain Scholarship Organizations; To Stipulate The Requirements For Nonpublic Schools Accepting Students For Enrollment Who Receive Scholarships Under The Provisions Of This Act; To Prescribe The Requirements For Scholarship Organizations Administering Tax Credit Scholarships; To Require The Department Of Revenue To Provide An Annual Legislative Report On The Tax Credits Allowed Under This Act; To Allow Parents To Request An Assessment Of Educational Progress Of Students Enrolled; To Prescribe The Powers And Duties Of The Department Of Revenue With Regard To The Administration Of This Act; To Provide That Nonpublic Schools Which Admit Students Receiving Tax Credit Scholarships Are Not Agents Of The State Or Federal Government; To Amend Section 27-7-15, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That Amounts Received As Tax Credit Scholarships To Pay Educational Expense Shall Be Excluded From Gross Income; And For Related Purposes.
