Summary

An Act To Place A Moratorium On The Establishment And Operation Of Wildlife Enclosures For Cervids Or Exotic Animals Within The State After July 1, 2014; To Require The Board Of Animal Health To Revoke The Application For Permit Of Any Person Or Entity Desiring To Establish And Operate A Wildlife Enclosure; To Prescribe Penalties For Violations Of The Moratorium On Wildlife Enclosures; To Amend Section 49-7-58, Mississippi Code Of 1972, In Conformity To The Preceding Provisions; To Amend Section 69-15-9, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Revise The Authority Of The Board Of Animal Health And State Veterinarian Relating To The Control Of Disease In Wild And Domesticated Animals; To Amend Sections 49-1-29, 49-4-41, 49-7-58.1 And 49-7-58.2, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Removing Certain Authority From The Commission On Wildlife, Fisheries And Parks And The Department Of Wildlife, Fisheries And Parks As It Relates To Those Entities' Control Of Disease In Animals And Transferring Such Authority To The Board Of Animal Health; To Bring Forward Section 49-8-1, Mississippi Code Of 1972, For Purposes Of Possible Amendments; To Repeal Section 49-7-58.3 And 49-7-58.4, Mississippi Code Of 1972, Which Provide For The Regulation Of The Hunting Of Nonnative Cervids In Commercial And Noncommercial Wildlife Enclosures That Prevent The Free Egress Of White-tail Deer; And For Related Purposes.
