Summary

An Act To Amend Section 47-7-5, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That When The Governor Requests The State Parole Board Investigate An Applicant For A Clemency, The Board Must Keep A Record Of All Files Relating To Such Investigation; To Require That When A Person Convicted Of A Crime Of Violence Petitions The Governor For A Pardon, The Person Shall Also Notify The Parole Board Of Such Petition; To Provide That The Parole Board Shall Notify The Victim Of The Crime Of Violence As Well As The District Attorney And The Sheriff Of The County In Which The Crime Of Violence Was Committed Of Such Petition; To Require The Parole Board To Request The District Attorney Of Where The Crime Was Committed To Schedule A Public Hearing Regarding The Possible Granting Of A Pardon; To Amend Section 47-7-31, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Require The Commissioner Of The Department Of Corrections To Keep Certain Files And Make Certain Reports Regarding Clemency Investigations; And For Related Purposes.
