Summary

An Act To Provide That The Legislature Shall Not Appropriate Any State Funds To The Mississippi Department Of Transportation For The Purpose Of Expenditure On Any New State Highway Or Bridge Construction Project For A Period Of Ten Years; To Provide That The Legislature Shall Not Be Prohibited From Appropriating State Funds To The Department Of Transportation For Maintenance Of Any Existing State Highway Or Bridge; To Provide That The Legislature May Appropriate Funds For New Construction Projects Under Certain Conditions; Amend Section 65-1-145, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Prohibit The Mississippi Transportation Commission From Expending Funds For New Construction Projects Unless Authorized Under This Act; To Amend Section 65-3-97, Mississippi Code Of 1972, To Provide That Any Funds Designated For The Four-lane Highway Program Shall Be Used For The Maintenance Of Existing Highways And Bridges For A Period Of Ten Years; To Bring Forward Section 65-1-141, Mississippi Code Of 1972, For Purposes Of Possible Amendment; And For Related Purposes.
