AN ACT

To amend chapter 9, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the designation of animal rescue and adoption week.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 9, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 9.181, to read as follows:

            9.181. The first week of August each year shall be designated as "Animal Rescue and Adoption Week" in Missouri. The citizens of this state are encouraged to participate in activities and events designed to create awareness regarding animal rescue, to educate and promote the adoption of rescued animals, to acknowledge and promote the invaluable role that shelters and other animal welfare organizations play in their communities, and to create a humane environment for all pets and animals throughout the state, which includes the important act of spaying and neutering animals.
