AN ACT

To repeal section 233.280, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the compensation of road district commissioners.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Section 233.280, RSMo, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 233.280, to read as follows:

            233.280. 1. County collectors shall receive for collecting special tax bills authorized by sections 233.170 to 233.315 the same compensation as if collected as county taxes.

            2. Clerks of county commissions shall receive for issuing and attesting each special tax bill issued under sections 233.170 to 233.315, six cents; for recording an abstract or description of each such tax bill, five cents; for making the record of a special tax payable in installments, four cents for each tract of land against which such tax is assessed; for attesting special assessment bonds issued under sections 233.170 to 233.315, and registering the same, twenty cents for each bond; for any other services performed under sections 233.170 to 233.315, such compensation as may be fixed by law, and if not fixed by law, such as may be fixed by the county commission.

            3. Commissioners of road districts incorporated under sections 233.170 to 233.315 shall receive [no compensation for their services, but shall be paid any and all expenses they may incur in transacting business of the district, including reasonable attorney's fees] such compensation for their services as a majority of the road district commissioners shall fix from time to time, not to exceed one hundred dollars per month, provided the compensation of a commissioner shall not change during the time for which he or she was elected or appointed. In addition to the compensation for their services, commissioners of road districts incorporated under sections 233.170 to 233.315 shall be paid any and all expenses they incur in transacting business of the district, including reasonable attorney's fees.
