1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Marilyn Hall for her contributions to the state of Minnesota.
1.3WHEREAS, those civil servants who commit their professional lives to the betterment of
1.4their communities perform a vital service worthy of legislative recognition; and
1.5WHEREAS, after first serving the Executive Branch, Marilyn Hall joined the Minnesota
1.6Senate in December of 1991. In 2005, she became the first woman elected Assistant Sergeant at
1.7Arms in the state of Minnesota; and
1.8WHEREAS, during her tenure, Marilyn was known by her colleagues for her generosity
1.9and kindness and for the pride she took in the performance of her duties. Her dedication to customer
1.10service, along with her tremendous personality, made her an institution among Senate staff and
1.11members alike; and
1.12WHEREAS, in addition to her role with the Senate, Marilyn was a member of the National
1.13Legislative Service and Security Association, an organization dedicated to providing a high level
1.14of service and safety to constituents and members of the legislature. Marilyn was also a member
1.15of the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries, an organization which strives to
1.16improve communication in legislative groups across the United States; and
1.17WHEREAS, Marilyn began her well-earned retirement in November of 2021 after serving
1.18with the Senate for three decades and with her love for her role and colleagues never waning; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20congratulates Marilyn Hall on her retirement and extends its deepest gratitude for her many years
1.21of dedicated service.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Marilyn Hall.
