1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hopkins High School boys basketball team on winning
1.3the 2016 State High School Class 4A boys basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Hopkins boys basketball team participated in the 2016 State High School
1.7Class 4A boys basketball tournament; and
1.8WHEREAS, they defeated the Lakeville North Panthers 64-55 in the final game of the
1.9tournament on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Target Center in Minneapolis to win the state
1.10championship; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Royals finished the regular season with an outstanding 28-1 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.13that congratulations are extended to the members of the Hopkins High School boys basketball
1.14team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.16an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.17the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.18of Hopkins High School.
