1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commemorating the service of District Chief Brent Weldon of the Minnetonka
1.3Fire Department on the occasion of his retirement.
1.4WHEREAS, those civic-minded individuals who work tirelessly in their communities perform
1.5an important service deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1.6WHEREAS, District Chief Brent Weldon faithfully served the community of Minnetonka,
1.7holding positions as a firefighter, lieutenant, and district chief from September 4, 1990, to January
1.81, 2020; and
1.9WHEREAS, District Chief Weldon commanded hundreds of emergency scenes including
1.10multi-alarm fires, water emergencies, and vehicle rescues and received widespread recognition for
1.11his personal involvement in saving the lives of others during his tenure with the department; and
1.12WHEREAS, throughout his service, District Chief Weldon was a department advocate who
1.13spearheaded the effort to standardize the entire Minnetonka fire apparatus fleet, assisted in the
1.14training of firefighters including as a live burn instructor, and sharing his expert knowledge in
1.15vehicle rescue with fire and rescue workers across the state; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17commends District Chief Brent Weldon for his many years of dedication and commitment to the
1.18Minnetonka Fire Department.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to District Chief Brent
1.22Weldon.
