1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the East Grand Forks High School boys hockey team on
1.3winning the 2014 State High School Class 1A boys hockey championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, hockey is important to Minnesota's culture and identity as the official state
1.7sport; and
1.8WHEREAS, the East Grand Forks boys hockey team defeated Hermantown 7-3 in the
1.92014 boys 1A state championship game; and
1.10WHEREAS, the Green Wave outscored their three state tournament opponents by nearly a
1.113-1 margin, 14-5; and
1.12WHEREAS, this is the ninth state tournament appearance for East Grand Forks; and
1.13WHEREAS, this is the first ever state championship title for East Grand Forks High
1.14School boys hockey; and
1.15WHEREAS, the 2014 Green Wave boys hockey team finished the regular season with
1.16an impressive mark of 28-2-1; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.18congratulations are extended to the members of the East Grand Forks High School boys hockey
1.19team and coaches for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.21an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.22the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to David Pace,
1.23Superintendent of the East Grand Forks Public Schools.
