1.2honoring Cha Xiong Her.
1.3WHEREAS, Cha Xiong Her was born in Laos and immigrated to the United States as a
1.4refugee after the Vietnam War; and
1.5WHEREAS, Cha Xiong, in reach of the American dream, received his high school diploma
1.6at Hub Adult Education Center in St. Paul in 1988 and went on to receive a degree in Human
1.7Services at Metropolitan State University in 2000; and
1.8WHEREAS, Cha Xiong also received several certificates and training through Wilder
1.9Foundation for Southeast Asian Leadership Training and St. Paul College for Microcomputer and
1.10Computer Instruction that contributed to his overall success; and
1.11WHEREAS, Cha Xiong worked as an Employment Resource Specialist at Lao Family
1.12Community of Minnesota, General Manager of Central Staffing Services, Inc., and as a Program
1.13Counselor at Thomas Allen, Inc. collectively for over a decade, serving the community; and
1.14WHEREAS, Cha Xiong has held roles as a Congregational Council Chair at Hmong Central
1.15Lutheran Church and Title Parent Representative at Frost Lake Elementary School, and has been
1.16a Ramsey County Election Judge; and
1.17WHEREAS, despite his health condition, he continued to support Senator Foung Hawj with
1.18civic engagement efforts in the community; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20celebrates and honors Cha Xiong for his dedication in serving diverse populations in the state of
1.21Minnesota in the area of human services.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Cha Xiong Her.
