1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Laws 2011, First Special Session chapter 2, article 4, section 30, is amended
1.7to read:
1.8 Sec. 30. STATE TREE NURSERY PROGRAM RESTRUCTURING;
1.9REPORT REQUIRED.
1.10(a) Beginning July 1, 2011, the commissioner of natural resources shall limit all new
1.11plantings atthe Badoura State Nursery state tree nurseries to the planting of stock for
1.12researchor, use on public lands or private conservation lands with permanent protection,
1.13or sale to soil and water conservation districts for use on private or public lands for
1.14conservation projects. Excess plant material may be sold or traded to private wholesale
1.15nurseries.
1.16(b) By January 15, 2012, the commissioner of natural resources shall submit a budget
1.17and financial plan for the state nurseries to the chairs and ranking minority members of
1.18the house of representatives and senate committees and divisions with jurisdiction over
1.19environment and natural resources policy and finance. The plan shall include a long-term
1.20business plan to operate the Badoura State Nursery in a manner that is self-sufficient. The
1.21plan shall also include options for the General C.C. Andrews State Nursery.
1.22EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective retroactively from July 1, 2011.
