1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to constitutional amendments; defining the legislative majority and
1.3process required to propose amendments to the state constitution; amending
1.4Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 3.20.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 3.20, is amended to read:
1.73.20 FORM OF ACT; PROCESS FOR SUBMISSION.
1.8Every act for the submission of an amendment to the Constitution shall set forth the
1.9section as it will read if the amendment is adopted, with only the other matter necessary to
1.10show in what section or article the alteration is proposed. It After passage of the act by
1.11three-fifths of the members elected to one house of the legislature in the calendar year
1.12following passage of the act by three-fifths of the members elected to the other house of
1.13the legislature, the amendment shall be submitted and voted upon at the general election
1.14following the next general election as provided by the law relating to general elections. If
1.15adopted, the governor shall announce the fact by proclamation.
1.16EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
