1.2relating to data practices; classifying financial account numbers as private or
1.3nonpublic data;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 13.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. [13.357] FINANCIAL ACCOUNT NUMBERS.
1.6 Subdivision. 1. Financial account numbers private or nonpublic. Financial
1.7account numbers of an individual or entity, whether provided in whole or in part, collected
1.8or maintained by a government entity are private data on individuals or nonpublic data
1.9with regard to data not on individuals.
1.10 Subd. 2. Tennessen warning not required. The requirements of section 13.04,
1.11subdivision 2, imposed when an individual is asked to supply private or confidential data
1.12concerning the individual shall not apply to an individual providing financial account
1.13numbers to the government entity when engaged in a financial transaction with that entity.
1.14EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
