1.2relating to transportation; mass transit; authorizing the Washington County
1.3Regional Rail Authority to exercise existing powers for bus rapid transit purposes.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. BUS RAPID TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT AUTHORIZED.
1.6Washington County Regional Rail Authority may exercise the powers conferred
1.7by Minnesota Statutes, section 398A.04, to plan, establish, acquire, develop, construct,
1.8purchase, enlarge, extend, improve, maintain, equip, operate, regulate, and protect a bus
1.9rapid transit system located within Washington County on transitways included in and
1.10approved by the Metropolitan Council's 2030 Transportation Policy Plan, including the
1.11Rush Line, Highway 36, Gateway, and Red Rock transit corridors.
1.12EFFECTIVE DATE.Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision
1.131, paragraph (a), this section is effective without local approval the day following final
1.14enactment.
