Education and Career Readiness.
A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1280h.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 1280h. (1) The superintendent of public instruction shall appoint
5 members to an advisory committee within the department that shall aid the
department in developing or adopting and updating the resource guide described
in section 1280i(10). The advisory committee must consist of the following 5
members:
(a) One member
with experience working in the field of dyslexia intervention, as determined by
the superintendent of public instruction, who is employed by the department or
an entity that represents the interests of school board members or school
administrators.
(b) One member
from an institution of higher education with expertise in dyslexia screening
and interventions, as determined by the superintendent of public instruction.
(c) Two members
who are or have been employed by a school district, intermediate school
district, or public school academy and who have expertise in dyslexia screening
and interventions, as determined by the superintendent of public instruction.
(d) One member
that is an individual with a dyslexia diagnosis or is the parent of an
individual with a dyslexia diagnosis.
(2) As used in
this section, "dyslexia" means that term as defined in section 1280i.
Enacting section
1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless all of the following bills
of the 100th Legislature are enacted into law:
(a) Senate Bill No. 1173.
(b) Senate Bill No. 1174.
(c) Senate Bill No. 1175.
