HOUSE BILL No. 5848

 

 

April 19, 2018, Introduced by Rep. Barrett and referred to the Committee on Education Reform.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1242.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1242. (1) Not later than August 1, 2019, the department

 

and the department of state police shall develop or adopt, and make

 

available to schools, an active shooter training program.

 

     (2) At least annually, a public school shall conduct the

 

active shooter training program developed or adopted under

 

subsection (1).

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
