HOUSE BILL No. 5727

 

August 27, 2014, Introduced by Rep. Geiss and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

 

     A bill to amend 1846 RS 1, entitled

 

"Of the statutes,"

 

by amending section 6 (MCL 8.6).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 6. (1) This section applies to the statutes and

 

administrative rules of this state. In

 

     (2) Subject to subsection (3), in computing a period of days,

 

the first day is excluded and the last day is included. If the last

 

day of any period or a fixed or final day is a Saturday, Sunday, or

 

legal holiday, the period or day is extended to include the next

 

day which that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.

 

     (3) In computing the age of an individual, the applicable

 

period is computed from the first minute of the day on which the

 

individual is born. For example, in computing the age of an

 

individual in years, the individual becomes 1 year older on the

 

first minute of the anniversary date of the individual's birth.
