A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1180.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1180. Beginning 1 year after the effective date of this
section, the governing body of a public school shall do both of the
following:
(a) Ensure that an automated external defibrillator is present
at the public school and that the automated external defibrillator
is readily accessible to staff, pupils, volunteers, and guests.
(b) When pupils are present at the public school, have present
at least 1 individual who has satisfactorily completed a course or
courses in basic first aid, basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation,
and automated external defibrillator use taught by the American Red
Cross, the American heart association, or an equivalent
organization approved by the governing body of the public school.
