HOUSE BILL NO. 5151

October 24, 2019, Introduced by Reps. Marino, Hoadley, Elder, Pohutsky, LaGrand, Sabo, Anthony, Brixie, Cambensy, Manoogian, Sneller, Koleszar, Hood, Liberati, Cynthia Johnson, Gay-Dagnogo, Sowerby, Brenda Carter, Lasinski, Pagan, Stone, Afendoulis, Calley, Bellino and Griffin and referred to the Committee on Commerce and Tourism.

A bill to amend 1969 PA 317, entitled

"Worker's disability compensation act of 1969,"

(MCL 418.101 to 418.941) by adding section 539.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 539. The trustees may authorize payments from the second injury fund for reasonable accommodations request determinations made by the department of licensing and regulatory affairs under section 5 of the centralized reasonable accommodations act. All of the following apply to a payment authorized under this section:

(a) The trustees shall not authorize a payment of more than $1,000.00 for each reasonable accommodations request determination.

(b) The trustees shall not authorize more than $1,000.00 in payments for a single employee in a calendar year.

(c) The trustees shall not authorize more than $500,000.00 in payments for all reasonable accommodations request determinations in a calendar year.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.

Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No.____ (request no. 01877'19) of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law.
