     A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

 

"The Michigan penal code,"

 

(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 423a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 423a. (1) A person shall not do either of the following

 

at a hearing or other meeting before a committee or subcommittee of

 

the legislature of this state:

 

     (a) Intentionally provide information to the committee or

 

subcommittee members that he or she knows is materially false,

 

fictitious, or fraudulent.

 

     (b) Falsify, conceal, or cover up any material fact from the

 

committee or subcommittee members by any trick, scheme, or device.

 

     (2) A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony

 

punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years or a fine of


 

not more than $10,000.00, or both.
