HOUSE BILL No. 4073

 

 

January 23, 2019, Introduced by Reps. Hope, Alexander, Brixie, Cherry, Anthony, Garza, Lasinski, Love, Hammoud, Cynthia Johnson and Ellison and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

 

     A bill to amend 1984 PA 431, entitled

 

"The management and budget act,"

 

(MCL 18.1101 to 18.1594) by adding section 449.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 449. Not later than October 1, 2019, the department shall

 

issue directives requiring all state agencies to make their website

 

homepages available in languages other than English if the director

 

determines that 2.5% or more of the population of this state speaks

 

a language other than English. The directives shall provide that

 

the state agency website homepage is made available in the language

 

that the director determines is spoken by 2.5% or more of the

 

residents of this state.
