SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Devon Jackson on winning the State Wrestling Championship in the 135-pound category.

    Whereas, Devon Jackson defeated his opponent 12-2 in the final match of the state wrestling finals. He finished off his senior year with a state championship win, and an impressive high school career record of 197-7;

    Whereas, Devon competed in the state championship tournament in the past two years, but this recent victory serves as his first state title. After a second place finish in last year's state finals tournament, Devon vowed to be the best wrestler in his weight class for the next season. His hard work was realized this year on February 18th;

    Whereas, Jackson has signed a letter of intent to wrestle for Purdue University as a student-athlete this fall. He has currently set his sights on business as a course of study. Devon also mentors young wrestlers in the Yorktown Wrestling Club, and competes in mixed martial arts during the off-season; and

    Whereas, As a hard-working, determined and committed

individual, Devon Jackson is sure to have a bright future: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Devon Jackson on winning a state wrestling championship title.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Devon Jackson.
