MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Dan Harshman,
Chief Executive Officer of Logan Community Resources, on
his retirement.
Whereas, Dan Harshman is retiring from Logan
Community Resources, an organization dedicated to
supporting people with disabilities, after serving with
professionalism and dedication for the past 33 years;
Whereas, Logan maintains eight group homes, while
providing support for about 60 clients who live
independently;
Whereas, After graduating from the University of Notre
Dame, where he played on the 1966 National Championship
football team,
Mr. Harshman started at Logan Community
Resources as a Title XX clerk, rising to the CEO position just
two years later;
Whereas, Mr. Harshman cultivated a sense of family with
Logan's clients and their families over the years, and often
decades, as they learned to grow with the developmental
disabilities in their lives;
Whereas, Mr. Harshman leaves an organization that
turned 60 last year, employs more than 350 individuals, and
boasts an annual budget of $13 million;
Whereas, In 1999, Logan became the first charity to win
the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County's Leighton
Award for Nonprofit Excellence, awarded to the most
effective non-profit in St. Joseph County; and
Whereas, Dan Harshman has been a mainstay at Logan,
and his love and dedication for Logan and its clients will be
sorely missed: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Dan Harshman on
his retirement after serving as CEO of Logan Community Resources for
the past 33 years.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dan Harshman and the Chairman
of the Logan Community Resources Board of Directors.
