MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing Crawford County
High School for participating in the Advanced Placement
Training and Incentive Program in Indiana.
Whereas, Crawford County High School has sought to expand Advanced Placement courses in its curriculum to provide students an opportunity to receive college credits at a greatly reduced cost compared to traditional university course enrollment;
Whereas, Crawford County High School will join the
Second Cohort of Indiana schools participating in the
Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program (AP-
TIP IN), which includes eleven additional Indiana high
schools;
Whereas, The AP-TIP IN is dedicated to providing
educators with the necessary tools to help students reach
high levels of academic and personal achievement;
Whereas, The AP-TIP IN has partnered with the National Math and Science Initiative to provide $7 million to be used to train educators and provide necessary additional tutoring
to students;
Whereas, The first cohort of participating schools
included nine high schools from across the state; and
Whereas, These schools have already demonstrated
improvements in students' Advanced Placement Exam scores,
which reflect a level of college-readiness worthy enough to
earn college credits prior to matriculation in a post-
secondary program: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate recognizes Crawford County
High School for participating in the Advanced Placement and
Incentive Program in Indiana.
SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Karen Sheller,
Crawford County Hi
gh School Principal.
