School students Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newson, and Anna
Woolery.

MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Pike Central
High School students Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newson, and
Anna Woolery;
Whereas, Inspired by the earthquakes in Haiti,
Pike Central
High School Students Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newson, and
Anna Woolery invented
an 8'x5' portable disaster relief shelter;
Whereas, At a cost of only $600, the shelter includes a
water purification system, is lightweight yet durable, and can
be air-dropped into disaster-stricken areas and assembled on
the ground;
Whereas, Their invention won first prize at MIT's
EurekaFest invention competition, with one invention education
officer saying the shelter is "an invention that's destined to help
people pretty quickly;"
Whereas,
Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newson, and Anna
Woolery
were invited to the White House to present their
disaster relief shelter to President Obama: and
Whereas, Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newson, and Anna
Woolery
hope to have their invention mass-produced and
utilized by national and international relief agencies:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate congratulates Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newton, and Anna Woolery on their emergency relief shelter invention.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Jessica D'Esposito, Colton Newton, and Anna Woolery.
