    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Superintendent Wylie Sirk upon his retirement.

    Whereas, Dr. Wylie Sirk has dedicated nineteen years to North Adams Community Schools, and a total of thirty-six years to public education;

    Whereas, Dr. Sirk earned his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in education from Indiana University. He earned his doctorate degree in educational leadership from Purdue University;

    Whereas, Dr. Sirk began his in career in education in 1978 as a teacher at Jefferson Center School in Whitley County, where he later became principal in 1984. He then served as principal of Westlawn Elementary School in Jay County;

    Whereas, Dr. Sirk joined North Adams school district in 1991 as the principal of Monmouth Elementary.

    Whereas, He went on to serve North Adams school district as a teacher at Bellmont Middle School, the principal of both Southeast Elementary School and Meadowbrook Elementary School , and the district's director of curriculum and professional development;


    Whereas, Dr. Sirk assumed the position of superintendent in 2007, and will retire in July of 2013;

    Whereas, Dr. Sirk is a former member of the United States Naval Reserves and an active member in his community; and

    Whereas, Dr. Sirk is married to Jeannie, and they have three children. He looks forward to spending more time with his family during his retirement: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Dr. Wylie Sirk upon his retirement after 19 years of service to North Adams school district and wishes him well in all future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Wylie Sirk.
