SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION

        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Tony Buuck for his bravery and courage.

    Whereas, Twelve-year-old Tony Buuck rushed to the aid of his eight-year-old sister, Sammy, when she fell through the ice on a frozen pond behind their house;

    Whereas, Although she knew how to swim, Sammy was wearing snow pants and was struggling to stay above the nine-foot deep water of the pond;

    Whereas, Without concern for his own safety, Tony ran to the pond to try to pull his sister out of the freezing water but fell into the water himself;

    Whereas, Tony held onto his sister and treaded water with one hand until their father reached the pond;

    Whereas, In the rush to reach Tony and Sammy, Dale Buuck ended up in the water as well;

    Whereas, Mr. Buuck was able to break a path through the ice and, with his last ounce of strength, was able to make it to the shore;

    Whereas, Just when Mr. Buuck thought he might not have the strength to return to save his daughter, he realized what his courageous son had been able to do;

    Whereas, With all the strength he could muster, Tony had

been able to hold on to his sister while his father dragged him to shore;

    Whereas, Sammy was unconscious and not breathing when she was pulled out of the water;

    Whereas, As Dale Buuck stood with his daughter, Tony ran to call 911;

    Whereas, The 911 dispatcher relayed instructions to Tony, who shouted them to his father, who administered CPR;

    Whereas, Through his decisive actions, Tony Buuck saved the life of his eight-year-old sister; and

    Whereas, Acts of heroism such as this deserve special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the House of Representatives concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes the bravery of Tony Buuck in rescuing his sister from an ice-covered pond without regard for his own safety. Tony Buuck is a true Hoosier hero.
