    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Carmel High School football team on their excellent 2011 season, including a state championship victory.

    Whereas, The Carmel High School football team captured their first 5A State Championship victory at Lucas Oil Stadium, with a score of 54-0;

    Whereas, Brandon Denning passed for 143 yards and ran for 60 yards to help Carmel defeat Penn High School. Adam Kehoe set a 5A record with 11 catches, 123 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jalen Duncan added 110 rushing yards to the Greyhounds' total of 438 yards, making it the most lopsided 5A title game ever;

    Whereas, The rest of the team was equally impressive and Head Coach Kevin Wright was proud of the way his team dominated;

    Whereas, The team boasted an impressive overall season record of 8-1. Their decisive victory secured the team's first state title since 2007, and the seventh in the school's history;

    Whereas, After four consecutive unsuccessful attempts at the title, the team's determination soared and they were committed to obtaining the Championship title; and

    Whereas, It took hard work, confidence, and teamwork for the Carmel High football team to sweep the competition on their way to a State Championship title at Lucas Oil Stadium, and their victory is well-deserved: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the Carmel High School football team on their 2011 State Championship.     SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Carmel High School football team, Head Coach Kevin Wright, Athletic Director Jim Inskeep, and the Carmel Clay board of directors.
