RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Bishop
Chatard High School Trojans football team on its Class 3A state
championship.
Whereas, For the third consecutive year, Bishop Chatard
High School of Indianapolis won the Class 3A state football
championship, the second "three-peat" in the school's
history;
Whereas, The victory was the Trojans' 12th high school
football championship in the school's history, more high
school football championships than won by any other high
school in Indiana;
Whereas, On the road to the state championship, the
Trojans won their 12th consecutive sectional championship
and 12th consecutive regional championship;
Whereas, The Trojans attained a 2012 season record of
13-2, scoring 552 points and holding their opponents to 189
points;
Whereas, The Trojans were led by Seniors Pete Hartley
(#2), Rob Dury (#5), Jake Griffey (#6), Jack Busald (#8),
Eric Moore (#9), Sam Neighbours (#11), Danny Weaver
(#13), Bobby O'Brien (#14), Sean Parsons (#20), Alex Taylor
(#25), Michael Weimer (#26), Luke Williams (#27), Joe
Fagan (#29), Nick Annee (#45), Zach Schellinger (#50), John
Agostino (#53), Joe Doyle (# 74), and Jordan Kontor (#87);
Whereas, Head Coach Vince Lorenzano, supported by talented and dedicated assistant coaches, has guided six of his Trojan teams to a state championship title in nine years as the Trojans head coach;
Whereas, The Trojans were cared for by committed
professional physicians, trainers, and student trainers;
Whereas, The Trojans were enthusiastically supported by
the Bishop Chatard student body, faculty and administrators,
parents and families, alumni from near and far, and the
entire Bishop Chatard community;
Whereas, The Trojans were inspired from Afghanistan by
Bishop Chatard football alumnus, First Lieutenant Shane
Cullina, Class of 2005; and
Whereas, An outstanding achievement such as this deserves
special recognition: Therefore,
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the House of Representatives concurring:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates the Bishop Chatard Trojans on their Class 3A state football championship and wishes them continued success both on and off the field.
SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to all team members and managers; assistant coaches Clifford Brooks, Jr., Rob Doyle, Matt Jennings, Kevin King, Travis Lucas, John Norris, Jimmy Pappas, Nick Svarczkopf, Kevin Shine, Nate Vannice, David Whittemore, and Todd Finnell; head coach, Vince Lorenzano; athletic director, Mike Ford; assistant athletic director, Mike Harmon; principal, Dr. John Atha; and superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Ron Costello.
