    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the Middlebury Junior All Stars on the accomplishments the team achieved during the 2009 season.

    Whereas, The Middlebury Junior All Stars baseball team finished its 2009 season as Junior Boys Little League State Champions and Central Region Champions, earning a spot in the Junior League World Series;

    Whereas, After a successful regular season, the Junior All Stars' championship road began with a win at the Junior Boys Little League State Championship where the team lost only one game out of thirteen played during the tournament;

    Whereas, After capturing the State Championship title, the team went on to compete in the Central Region Championship. The team won that tournament as well, finishing with only one loss out of the six games played;

    Whereas, Winning the Central Region Championship qualified the team to compete in the Junior League World Series. The JuniorAll Stars finished the World Series with a record of 3-3. Of the 3,400 teams that started the tournament, the 2009 Junior All Stars are ranked second in the United States and third in the world;


    
    Whereas, The Junior All Stars concluded the 2009 season with many impressive statistics. The team scored 226 runs and
stole 111 bases. They also collectively hit 184 singles, 52 doubles, 4 triples, and 10 home runs. The team batting average was .355; and

    Whereas, The accomplishments achieved in 2009 add to the accolades this team has amassed, including finishing third in the state as 12-year-old All Stars in 2007 and entering the 2008 13-year-old Little League State Championship with an undefeated record: Therefore,
    

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    

     SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates the 2009 Middlebury, Indiana Junior All Stars on its successful season and wishes the team continued success in 2010.
    SECTION 2. The Middlebury Junior All Stars is comprised of Shannon Baker, Eric Beck, Levi Benton, Drew Burgess, Arick Doberenz, Blake Fry, Hunter Goodwin, Alan Grusy, Jeremy Hochstetler, Brock Logan, Austin Moniot, Caleb Stayton, and Judah Zickafoose. The team's success was also shared by coaches, Mike Logan and Jim Grusy, and manager, Jim Burgess.
    SECTION 3. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to each player, coach, and manager of the Middlebury Junior All Stars.
