Synopsis: Education roundtable. Requires the education roundtable to make recommendations to the state board of education regarding best practices and strategies for improving services and support provided by a school to: (1) assist a student in achieving the level of academic performance that is appropriate for the student's grade level; and (2) minimize the necessity for remedial course work by the student if the student attends a postsecondary educational institution.

Effective: July 1, 2013.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning education.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 20-19-4-9; (13)IN0129.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 20-19-4-9, AS ADDED BY P.L.1-2005, SECTION 3, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]: Sec. 9. The roundtable shall make recommendations to the state board:
         (1) for improving the academic standards under IC 20-31-3; and
        (2) regarding best practices and strategies for improving services and support provided by a school to:
            (A) assist a student in achieving the level of academic performance that is appropriate for the student's grade level; and
            (2) minimize the necessity for remedial course work at a postsecondary educational institution by a student that attends the postsecondary educational institution upon graduation.
